Winter is officially here and the cold early Scottish mornings of scraping the Volkswagen van in the snow are getting much closer as the weather turns fierce, and generally more miserable. Our Summer wardrobes are now packed away, we don the woolly hats and become more health conscious as we battle through low temperatures avoiding colds and the flu at all costs.
We should be looking after our vehicles in very much the same way too. If it has been a while since your vans last service there is more chance of the engine failing, the windscreen freezing and the brakes not working which could leave you in a spot of bother during the Winter months.
A good Winter check is all you would need to ensure safety on the roads and that your vehicle of choice is working to the best that it can, and is at its absolute 'healthiest' for the coming Winter battle.
The dangers of driving your Volkswagen van out on the icy roads or with the chance of frost are much higher and therefore it is a good idea to keep your van in check for both you and your passengers.
At a small cost dealerships will offer a Seasonal Safety Check that covers the following main areas to ensure optimal safety:
Wheels and tyres (including spare)
Wheel alignment
Engine, brake and clutch fluid levels
Power steering reservoir level
Anti-freeze strength and level
Screen wash content and level
Battery condition
Fluid leaks, including oil and water
Drive belt, exhaust and brake condition
Operation and alignment of lights
Wiper blade condition
Minor adjustments and routine fluid top-ups at no extra charge

This is just an example of what some dealers are offering and may vary from business to business, whatever the weather; ensure you always book in for your service, its too cold to break down in winter.
